Adrian Angehrn is a director of photography based in Berlin. Growing up in a region of France famous for its rich nature and Impressionist painters, his fascination for images and light started at a very young age through painting.

His many travels opened his mind to the diversity of the world and pushed him to study philosophy and aesthetics at the Sorbonne in Paris.

Later on, his curiosity and passion for film and photography brought him to Budapest, where he studied editing with award winning editor Tom Ernst and specialized in cinematography under the tutelage of János Vecsernyés.

His philosophy background taught him to go beyond being an exclusively technique-oriented cinematographer.

It's in a search for visual poetry and emotional expression of the ineffable that he conducted his first own experiments with 16mm film and light design, always eager to explore his vision and voice through new techniques and find new ways to convey emotionally the richness of the human soul. This helped him bring his passion for storytelling through photography to a new level.

Since 2018 he works mostly in Berlin and hasn’t stopped his quest for expression through a deeper meaning and exploration of the power of images. Working and improving his knowledge and technique as a cinematographer and gaffer in a great diversity of fields and forms including art, fashion, music video, advertisement, television, documentary but mostly through narrative film.

He keeps improving his practice and understanding of light, shadow, color, depth and the complexity of cinema’s language around most cities in Europe.
